Where Did The Time Go?

Suddenly it's 2018

This year has just passed by so quickly. I don't even know where to start.

Our little blog has 13 followers now! Thank you guys for sticking with us. I know we have been posting much lately but with school and generally growing up things, its hard to find time to sit down and write a post.

I certainly am going to post more this coming year. :D :D

Kat and I have exciting things happening this year. This year, we are directing our church's Epiphany play. Which is a little terrifying!!!

WE'RE GRADUATING THIS YEAR!!!!!

Who decided it would be a good idea to release us on the world???? (jk jk jk) Then this fall, Kat will be headed off to college and me....... I have no idea. It has caused me many a gray hair just thinking about it. My hair is practically white!!!!!!!! (I kid, I kid) Still brown :)

Have a Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!

Lia

Remember when staying up until Midnight used to be a big thing? Wow.

Things That Happened This Year:

  • Catholic Girl Stuff turned 1!

  • We have 8k Pageviews... WOW

  • We both totally forgot to post on this blog.

  • Lia turned 18! YIKES

  • I applied for different colleges (I feel so old...)

  •  We reached our 100th post...and then some

  • Drank WAAAAY to much coffee

  • Played pranks

  • Spent time with friends (though not nearly enough)

And since Lia started, that means I finish. Which means I have to break the not so happy news... Catholic Girl Stuff will be on hiatus for the month of January.
(Don't worry, Lia will probably still be posting over at Musical Writings....We all know she's your favorite anyways)

Awkward and Awesome: Winter, Holidays, Etc

Awkward:

  • They are playing Christmas music. You love Christmas music. But it isn't after Thanksgiving, so you stubbornly refuse to sing along out of principle.

  • You end up singing anyway because your favorite comes on.

  • Remember the truck thing I whined about? Guess what....I did it again. Why? WHY? *

  • Slush. Yuck

  • And snow. Except for the first day when everything is nice and crisp. After that...it can go

  • I DO NOT LIKE BEING COLD

  • I go into panic mode as I realize it is almost time for Christmas shopping and I must begin the mad scrabble to guy things for people. And make sure I don't forget anybody.

  • Misplacing Christmas presents and finding them a few weeks after Christmas.
    Or a few months.
    Or never.

  • Forgetting people while Christmas shopping and having to rush out at the last minute

  • WHO do I need to buy stuff for again?

  • So. Many. People. In. The. Stores. *gag*

  • IT IS OCTOBER! WHY IS YOUR CHRISTMAS STUFF UP!
For people who don't procrastinate, you say?
Ha ha. You can't fool me. Those people are myths!

  • I love to wrap things. But I also procrastinate. So you'll either get a beautifully wrapped gift or it'll have a towel thrown over it.

  • The winter wind blowing your hair...back into your lipstick...

  • Knocking over the Christmas tree or even just seeing it fall
(If you see it fall from across the room, do not yell TIMBER!)

Awesome:

  • So festive!

  • Christmas music

  • Scarves and people walking about with smiles and coffee cups in hand

  • EGGNOG! EGGNOG! EGGNOG! EGGNOG!

  • Am I Christmas shopping or is it for me? Hahaha. You'll never know!

  • CHRISTMAS MUSIC

  • I am the best at hiding things. I am practically a squirrel. (Sometimes I forget when they are though.)

  • First snow

  • Decorating the house

  • Putting up the tree with your family and everyone being covered in tiny plastic needles by the time it is over

  • Taking out your favorite ornament

  • When you find the perfect gift and your just like: Yes! This! This is perfect. and then wait smugly for them to unwrap it on Christmas day

  • Getting a sibling something weird as a prank and watching them just kind of stare at it in confusion for a couple minutes while everyone laughs hysterically

  • CRANBERRY PUDDING WITH IRISH WHISKEY SAUCE

  • Midnight Mass

  • Coming up your drive and seeing your house decked out in lights and wreaths and garlands

  • Forcing your pets to wear ridiculous outfits and laughing at their annoyed expression

  • Doing the same to small children and taking pictures of them for future blackmail

  • Christmas movies

By the way, comment your favorite Christmas movie!
(Or any movie set during the winter holidays.)
(And no, Leap Day does not count as a winter holiday)

-Kat
 and Lia-

*For all you newcomers (first of all, Hi)

The Truck thing is the fact that I will see a nice truck in the parking lot and will stare at it. And I never look at the cab first, so after I have stared at the bed, back wheels, side, etc THEN I notice the owner sitting in their car. Often, they are busy with whatever they are doing and don't notice me. But a few times I have slowly looked up to meet the amused eyes of this guy who has been sitting their watching me check out his truck.

Whaaaa? It Is October?

Da Da Dah!

It is OCTOBER!

FASHION BOOTS! LATTES! work. School. Flu season. I am cold.

Our theme this month is a mixture between The Rosary and Fatima.

Because the 13th is the 100th anniversary of the day the sun danced!

Major Feast Days:

Oct 4: Saint Francis of Assisi
Oct 5: Saint Faustina
Oct 7: Our Lady of the Rosary
Oct 13: 100th ANNIVERSARY OF THE MIRACLE AT FATIMA
Oct 15: Saint Theresa of Avila
Oct 18: Saint Luke
Oct 24: Saint Raphael
Oct 29: Feast of Christ the King

Oh, and do you know why you shouldn't write with a broken pencil?

Because it is pointless.

(Much like my jokes)

-Kat

WHO HAD THE BETTER JOKE? TELL US IN THE COMMENTS!

(Ps. I a, just a liddy bit competitive, in case you haven't guessed)

Time Flies When You're Panicking and Don't Want To Grow Up

(*Awww* So cute)

Can you believe that an ENTIRE YEAR HAS PASSED SINCE CGS STARTED?

Because it has.

And I am freakin' out.

*Screaming* Me too!!

I mean, look:
My first post (not counting that one creepy welcome post) was THIS.
That's right! It's the "Try not to cringe challenge!"
(I failed)

My welcome one wasn't much better. *cringing so hard right now*
My first official post was just as bad *still cringing*

(Hey, Lia failed too! We all failed. Wow. [Comment if you failed too!])

I'd like to think we got better. :)

(Because she's a lovely positive person)

Wow, I still haven't wrapped my head around the fact that its been a year since we started.

Kat was talking to me one day and said, "HEY WE SHOULD START A BLOG!"  I didn't think much of it til she called me and told me she created it and now here we are.

I literally did. We mentioned it once, I got bored (this is how most of our crazy stories began) and then a created a gmail account and a blogger account, set everything up. And then I called her the next day like "Lia! I started a blog. Here's the account name and password." and she was like "Whaa?"

(We do have a lot of crazy stories, we could probably write a book.)

Then she told me to write a welcome blog post, which I did. *directs you to cringyness up above*
It was so short but I didn't really know what else to say.

(Yes. So you can blame me for the Welcome Posts. BLOGGING TIP: Don't make a welcome post. JUST START POSTING and then make a "About Me" page or something.)

I remember how excited I was when we got our first follower. I'm excited for every new follower :)
Thank you for following us.

I remember hitting 100 views, then 1,000. (we were going to post about that but....that didn't happen)
Then we hit 5,000 views!!!! Oh my word!

So we started this blog and we were super excited and motivated! We're going to do all these posts! A bunch of Catholic Stuff. A bunch of girl stuff....

And then we never post anything.

Well, that's not true. I never post anything. Ever.

And it annoys me since I'm very "A post must go up this day, at this time."

And I don't post anything.

(*is trying to fix this*)

Anyway...

This blog is kind of fun, since we're kind of blogging opposites?

I like scheduled posts that come up at a certain time and on a certain day and Lia posts when ever she gets inspiration.

I don't like anyone knowing anything about me or my personal life and Lia is a little more open with y'all.

(And if that Y'all confused you....No. I am not from TX.)

Every time she says something like "We should do a Q&A post! Or an "This Is What We Do In RL Post!" I kind of tense up like
"No."
"The people cannot know."
*small scream*
"No"
"Why"

Yeah, that's what she does :) Kat's an introvert while I am an extrovert. But I wouldn't change her for the world. (Which is a good thing, since I don't change. Classic. Timeless. Really really stubborn) There is no other person I would rather blog with.

Do I have to say something nice and cutest about Lia now too?
*blows raspberry*
She knows she's awesome and means a lot to me and if somebody made her cry I would gladly kill them.

(Of course I would gladly kill a lot of people, so don't mind me)

Thank you all for coming on this journey with us, and I hope we continue to blog for many more years.

We are also sorry that we drug you along with us all this time. If you carry something sharp in your pocket (or have good teeth) you might be able to sever the ties, but if not we'll be yanking you along for some time yet!

THE ANSWERS YOU SEEK

For Both:

What Is The First Movie You Remember Watching?
Please. I don't even remember where I put my tea. -K
The Little Mermaid -L

What Is You Favorite Movie Genre?
Action/Spy-K
Marvel! -Lia

What Is Your Favorite Book Genre?
(Dark) Fantasy -K
Fantasy -L

Why Do You Watch Movies?
Why not?(Do not answer that) -K
Movies are cool. I like them -L

Why Do You Read Books?

Because if not, I would go insane. (Insaner?) -K
Same -L

What Is Your Favorite Movie?
That, my friend, is classified.(In other words, I have no idea) -K
GAH Ummmmmm  I don't know -Lia
What Is Your Favorite Book?
What? You can't ask a book lover that? TREASON!
But, one I would suggest to literally ANYONE is "I'd Tell You That I Love You, But Then I'd Have To Kill You" by Ally Carter. Go read it. So good. -K
NO I CAN'T ANSWER THIS!!! THERE'S TOO MANY -L

What Is Your Least Favorite Movie?
Well, not counting ones that I hate for moral reasons...Actually, I don't hate many movies. Mostly they just annoy me. That is one problem with loving spy stuff. You get super picky during movies. It's like the "That isn't how it was in the book" thing, except it's a "they can't actually do that IRL, because of Law blah blah blah, article blah blah..."
I think I'm going with the Percy Jackson movies. *cringe* -K
YES PERCY JACKSON MOVIES ARE TERRIBLE. DON'T WATCH THEM -L
(i'm starting to realize I have waaaay too many caps in this post)

What Is Your Least Favorite Book?

There are also a lot of books I hate/dislike...but I kind of hate them all the same? Or maybe it's the INTJ thing in me. My brain sees things that it hates (people, places, books) and just kind of goes "Well, we not even going to bother thinking about that." and just kind of wipes it out of out life and we move on.  A book I would say DO NOT READ is Also Known As by Robin Benway. I thought I was going to get something like the Gallagher Girls. Nope. Cardboard characters, bad plot and inaccurate spy stuff. So much gag -K
The Hunger Games -L

When And Where Do You Like To Read?
Anytime, anywhere. -K (Depends on the mood)

ALL THE TIME -L
What Is Your Favorite Bible Verse?
Job 39:19-25 (Bet you can't guess what my favorite animals is)

There actually are a couple, but this is the first one to come to mind. (The others are war ones.)
(Though this one kind of is too.) -K
Same -L

What Have You Learned From Blogging?
Learn? LEARN?- K
Bloggers are some of the nicest people ever and we should all get together and have a big party -L

How Did This Blog Come About?
I was like, LIA WE SHOULD START A BLOG TOGETHER! And then, months and months later and started the account and called Lia and told her how to log in, etc. The rest is history -K
This is literally what happened. Word for word. XD -L

How Do You Choose What To Write About?
Well, we have our monthly post, and I try to post some prayer or something on the monthly topic. We also try to do one Dual Post a month that isn't our Month Post. If not, I post whatever comes to mind. (Which normally isn't much, which is why Lia posts the most)-K
I write about what I'm inspired to write or something that I am currently obsessing over. -L

For Lia:

What Is Your Favorite Season?
Fall!!!!! I am like obsessed with the colors and the chilly weather and big sweaters and just everything about it.
Would You Rather Swim or Ice Skate?
I have never actually ice skated before. So swimming :)
What Is Your Favorite Food?

 Ummmmmm Crab legs.
What Is Your Favorite Animal?

Wolves. I want one :D
What Are Some of Your Favorite Song Lyrics That You Have Come Up With?
This is actually from a song I haven't posted yet. So y'all get an exclusive preview

"I wanna be the girl sittin next to you in the shotgun seat"

Do you play an instrument?
I actually don't. But I am learning how to play the piano this year. So yay!!

What is your favorite hobby?
Reading, singing, writing. They're all together in my daily routine.

What is your least favorite food?
Meatloaf. Bleck!

For Kat

What Is Your Favorite Color?
Dark Green, Rich Blues and Black

What Is Your Favorite Smell?
Molasses and corn (feed) and alfalfa. Coffee. Earl Grey Tea. Sun warmed apples. Wind blown grass.

Would You Rather Eat Carrots or Broccoli?
What are we talking here? Raw? Cooked? In Chinese food????
(Probably carrots)

Do you like to garden?

 Do I garden? Yes
 Do I like it? eh....

Awkward and Awesome: Besties

Awkward:

  • When she sends prank emails from your account
  • When you live far away from each other
  • Can't have a conversation without anyone eavesdropping
  • When someone makes your friend sad, so you have to kill them and end up getting blood on your new shoes.*

    * Please note: This is hypothetical.
  • Liking the same things DOES have disadvantages.
Friend: Where did all the chocolate cake go?
    Me: *shrugs* No idea
Second Friend: It's got crumbs on its jacket-sess!
  • When one is the people person and the other one wants to hide in a corner at social gatherings and hiss at anyone who comes near them. But they want to spend time together, so....
  •  Buying one of your best friends her graduation present..... three days before her graduation.#Procastination #WorstFriendOfTheYear

Awesome:

  • When you can fan girl to each other
  • Spending time with each other
  • Reading each other's journals (with permission, of course)
  • Sleepovers!
  • Looking at each other and being able to understand what we are thinking
  • Which can lead to random burst of laughter (sometimes in church)
  • Mostly in front of people who then think we are crazy (But everyone thinks we're crazy, so no biggie.)
  • Singing along with musicals and screaming as soon as the villain in a period drama comes on screen.
    "You!"
    *Pillow hits screen*
    *TV falls off wall*
    Me: (smugly) Got 'em
  • Rapid fire texts and google chats
  • Might I just say "Period Drama movie marathons?" The ones where you all pile together like a stack of kittens and get all toasty and warm and your legs go to sleep, but you refuse to move?

-August-

The monthly devotion for August, since this is the month when every one is going off to school or back to school, is vocations and finding our calling in life.

Just like last month, we are going to try and post more.

The Feast Days This Month

Aug 4: St. John Vianney
Aug 8: St Dominic
Aug. 10: St. Lawrence
Aug. 11: St. Philomena
Aug 14: St Maximilian Kolbe

Wow, the intro part of the post IS really boring....

(Restraining.)

Nope

At the very least I have to tell you my (pathetic) clown joke.

Ok. Get ready for it.....

If you ever get attacked by a gang of clowns....

Monthly Devotions for July and a Look Back At June

Lia and I decided to try something new. We post alternating weeks, with her posts coming up on Mondays and mine coming up on Wednesdays. (And an occasional Friday music post)

As you can see I already broke that new arrangement. Whoops.

But not really since this is a dual post,

I guess?

---JUNE---

Pageviews last month: 1, 151
Pageviews total: 4, 200

And it's kind of weird since there was a giant spike on the 15th and 16th. We didn't even post on that day.

Hello everyone! Lia here.

The devotional theme of July is the Precious Blood. We will be posting the Precious Blood novena sometime during this month.

Awkward And Awesome: Skirts

AWKWARD:
  • The weird looks you get
  • Good skirts are hard to come by
  • That one skirt you loved and wore everywhere just died,...because, well...you wore it everywhere
  • Wanting to be comfortable yet modest, so you pair your knee length skirt with your fandom T shirt and you just look like "Lazy Fangirl" on the top and "Classy Lady" on bottom. (Lets here it for the Classy Lazy Fangirl Ladies!)
  • When it's windy and your skirt decides to do an impression of Marilyn Monroe.

AWESOME

  • You're being modest and pleasing God
  • You look awesome!
  • Skirts are awesome! They are literally the best for ANY weather! Hot during the summer? Wear short shorts under your skirt and Viola! Nice and cool. Cold during the winter? I know everyone says pants are warmer then skirts....but guess what! LIES! A skirt with pants under it is the warmest. thing. EVER!
  • Cold in the morning and don't want to change out of your nice warm pajama pants? Wear a long skirt and tuck them into your fashion boots. (FASHION BOOTS)
  • When you find that magical skirt with:  POCKETS!!!!
  • Just wait. Eventually you'll go to a formal event....and them *evil laugh* you'll be able to walk, jog up stairs, dance, climb a tree, slay a dragon, etc. And everybody else? All those jean wearing girls are going to trip on their face walking on flat ground *Another evil laugh*
  • You can hide stuff under your skirt. Like a kitten (#LauraIngalls)
-Lia and Kat

Awkward and Awesome: Assorted Stuff

Awkward:

  • When you see a cute skirt and then hold it up to show your Mom. Oh never mind. You can see right through it.
  • When your reading a great book and you get to one of those parts where you just have to put the book down and give your brain time to register what just happened. Then you glance at your alarm clock and see it's 2 am and you notice that your eyeballs are being to burn. (But there is only five chapters left so you finish it.)
  • When your walking through the parking lot with your Mom and see a giant pick up truck. You can't help, but stare a little. (What? I happen to like pickup trucks)  Then you notice the person inside (read: guy) staring back at you with an amused smile. Oops.
  • That one day you don't shower, just throw in whatever and run to the store to buy ice cream...well, apparently your lazy days are "ALL CUTE BOYS GO GROCERY SHOPPING DAY"

Awesome!

  • Taking my permit test as the end of this month
  • REACHING 1000 PAGE VIEWS ON THIS BLOG!!!!!!
  • New York Style Cheesecake
  • Actually doing stuff on your bucket list
  • High Heels. The awesome sound of the clicking heels. Such a power walk. I could be going to buy bread or kill somebody. You never know (Best sound ever)
  • Period Drama. and Besties
  • A new book *looks to see if anyone is watching* *Smells book*
  • Hoop Skirts. Completely impractical for day to day life but they're so fun to wear. *swish.*swish*
  • Horseback riding
  • Finishing an awesome book...... but the book made me cry!
  • My sister made bread pudding for dinner and she was telling us all the ingredients she used to make it. She said she put eggs in it. My brother spits his drink everywhere, shocked and says, "You put raw eggs in this!!!!!!!!" Clearly I need to have a talk with my brother how the oven works.....
  •  Brownie Mix (Maybe I shouldn't have put this right under Lia's story...)

What NOT To Do On Valentine's Day

Happy feast of St. Valentine everyone!

I do not have a boyfriend or a Valentine this year. I haven't for the last couple of years and I am totally ok with that. I'm only 17, I'll wait for the right one.

Even though I don't have a Valentine, I still have a few words of wisdom I can impart on you lovely people :)

Here's what not to do on Valentine's Day:

1. Complain about your singledom and cry in your room with chocolate.
(BTW singledom is totally a word, I just made it up :))

This will get you nowhere. Be happy. Even though you don't have a boyfriend to spend today with, Valentine's can still be fun. Go out with your friends. Walk around town, go out to dinner, have a sleepover, make fun of all the lovey-dovey couples you see.(Nicely. and not necessarily in that order)(And I suggest quietly too-Kat)

2. Post on social media that you are #singleandproud.
Just don't do it. You might actually be single and proud of it and that's ok. But if you post about it, it makes you look desperate. That you want the whole world to know you're single.

-Lia

(Ha ha. We are both posting on this one! The pink is Lia, the blue is mine -Kat)

3. Walk up to a random cute couple your age, slap the guy in the face and scream "You said you would always remember me!" and then stomp off. Please. Just don't.

4. Don't go out to people -ly places. Avoid all those places that are always filled with couples (unless it the coffee shop. coffee, coffee, coffee,)

5. But don't stay in either. (Unless you LIKE staying in.) If you like going out and about, go some place that isn't a "couple" thing. (Please tell me Barnes and Nobel isn't a "couple place.")

6. Don't sit on your computer all day

A Suggestion: I suggest you get all you friends together (the awesome single ones) and have a movie marathon. It could be chick flicks, Disney, period drama (P&P, any other Jane Austen, North and South, etc) but it doesn't have to be. You could watch war movies, cheesy movies, the classics, spy movies (invite me please.)  Pizza, on the other hand, is a MUST. Chocolate is good too. And popcorn. Since St. Valentine's isn't in Lent this year (YAY) that means you have no excuse not to splurge on chocolates. (unless your broke, in which case I suggest inviting friends who have jobs.)

What do you suggest people do or don't do on St. Valentine's day?

Growing Up: Awkward and Awesome

I Don't Want To Grow Up!

"I want to stay single and ride through the glen firing arrows into the sunset"  (Disney)

Or as Lia would say "Take me to Neverland!" (also Disney. Duh)
(She has a HUGE crush on the Peter Pan from OUAT, BTW)

Why do we have to grow up?

So here are some Awkward and Awesome parts of growing up

AWKWARD:

  • People talk to you in the grocery store and you automatically look over your shoulder for Mum. Also most of the time it's dudes.
  • I'm sorry, I know a lot of girls are dreaming of the day when random guys will ask them for their number or just strike up a conversation....but it is really annoying.
  • When you and your brother go out to Chipotle, people think you are a couple.
  • When you go out to eat and people think you are ordering a alcoholic drink and you just have to look at them and say, "I'll have tea."  (Ok. This only happened once)
  • You take a quiz on "How Responsible Are You" and it's like "95%! We guess your age to be about 35. (What?! So much for the rebellious teenager thing)
  • But your still not old enough to go skydiving. *SIGH*
  • People ask what your majoring in. I'm in High School!
  • Guy in his late twenties asked for my number at Subway. Had to explain I was underage.
  • Waiter offered me a free margarita at a Mexican restaurant
  • When someone asks you for your phone number or talks to you and you go to say "Hello?! I'm 15!" But then you realize your not 15 anymore....
  • Guys just keep asking us for our numbers!!!!!!

AWESOME:

  • Driver's Permits/Licenses
  • More Freedom
  • You can actually start planning your life, applying for college, etc
  • You can start checking stuff off your bucket list. (Except the skydiving...)
  • First Cell Phone! (Except I lost it....whoops)
  • You can buy your own books *Mwuhahahaha*
  • You can also buy your own coffees....
  • The fact that Lia pretended she was deaf to escape talking to some random dude at the Post Office. (I can't believe I actually did that...)
  • Makeup
  • Shopping with your mother and actually getting to pick your own clothes
  • People start valuing your opinion as an adult (kind of scary but still awesome)

Well that's all for this.
We had a lot of fun. Enjoy!
Love,
-Lia, Kat
