Weird Things I Tried That I Ended Up Liking

They aren't all "weird" per say.

But here are some of the things I've tried that I ended up loving.

Acupuncture:

I know. It sounds a little creepy to some people to have tiny needles stuck in you. But you actually can't feel the needles. And its fun!

Bubble Tea
Georgia Peaches and Pearls

I tried this fairly recently (we don't have any place near by that sells it.) And now I'm hooked. The place we got it from is too far away to drive, so now I have to learn how to make it myself.

Tim Tams

Irresistable cupcakes made with a classic cookie we love

Crunchy chocolate cookies with creamy chocolate filling. Dipped in chocolate. These are extremely amazing. (And I'm not really a chocolate person. Or a cookie person.) If you want to try them, most grocery stores have them now. I'm told Kroger does and I normally get them from Meijer.

British Candy

You may or may not know of my love of tea, scones and British food. I am extremly fond of Crunchie Bars, Flake chocolate bars, vimto flavored bon bons and Maltesers
These particular candies I found at a British Food's store near me, but you can order them online.

Mochi

mochi balls.... mmmmmmmmm.

A Japanese sweet. Has a pasty doughy taste.

And that is why you should try new things! Because there are so many good things out there!
Or maybe it is the reason you should NOT try new things. You'd end up like me, ordering a strange assortment of sweets off the internet and writing boring blog posts about them.

What NOT To Do On Valentine's Day

Happy feast of St. Valentine everyone!

I do not have a boyfriend or a Valentine this year. I haven't for the last couple of years and I am totally ok with that. I'm only 17, I'll wait for the right one.

Even though I don't have a Valentine, I still have a few words of wisdom I can impart on you lovely people :)

Here's what not to do on Valentine's Day:

1. Complain about your singledom and cry in your room with chocolate.
(BTW singledom is totally a word, I just made it up :))

This will get you nowhere. Be happy. Even though you don't have a boyfriend to spend today with, Valentine's can still be fun. Go out with your friends. Walk around town, go out to dinner, have a sleepover, make fun of all the lovey-dovey couples you see.(Nicely. and not necessarily in that order)(And I suggest quietly too-Kat)

2. Post on social media that you are #singleandproud.
Just don't do it. You might actually be single and proud of it and that's ok. But if you post about it, it makes you look desperate. That you want the whole world to know you're single.

-Lia

(Ha ha. We are both posting on this one! The pink is Lia, the blue is mine -Kat)

3. Walk up to a random cute couple your age, slap the guy in the face and scream "You said you would always remember me!" and then stomp off. Please. Just don't.

4. Don't go out to people -ly places. Avoid all those places that are always filled with couples (unless it the coffee shop. coffee, coffee, coffee,)

5. But don't stay in either. (Unless you LIKE staying in.) If you like going out and about, go some place that isn't a "couple" thing. (Please tell me Barnes and Nobel isn't a "couple place.")

6. Don't sit on your computer all day

A Suggestion: I suggest you get all you friends together (the awesome single ones) and have a movie marathon. It could be chick flicks, Disney, period drama (P&P, any other Jane Austen, North and South, etc) but it doesn't have to be. You could watch war movies, cheesy movies, the classics, spy movies (invite me please.)  Pizza, on the other hand, is a MUST. Chocolate is good too. And popcorn. Since St. Valentine's isn't in Lent this year (YAY) that means you have no excuse not to splurge on chocolates. (unless your broke, in which case I suggest inviting friends who have jobs.)

What do you suggest people do or don't do on St. Valentine's day?

Growing Up: Awkward and Awesome

I Don't Want To Grow Up!

"I want to stay single and ride through the glen firing arrows into the sunset"  (Disney)

Or as Lia would say "Take me to Neverland!" (also Disney. Duh)
(She has a HUGE crush on the Peter Pan from OUAT, BTW)

Why do we have to grow up?

So here are some Awkward and Awesome parts of growing up

AWKWARD:

  • People talk to you in the grocery store and you automatically look over your shoulder for Mum. Also most of the time it's dudes.
  • I'm sorry, I know a lot of girls are dreaming of the day when random guys will ask them for their number or just strike up a conversation....but it is really annoying.
  • When you and your brother go out to Chipotle, people think you are a couple.
  • When you go out to eat and people think you are ordering a alcoholic drink and you just have to look at them and say, "I'll have tea."  (Ok. This only happened once)
  • You take a quiz on "How Responsible Are You" and it's like "95%! We guess your age to be about 35. (What?! So much for the rebellious teenager thing)
  • But your still not old enough to go skydiving. *SIGH*
  • People ask what your majoring in. I'm in High School!
  • Guy in his late twenties asked for my number at Subway. Had to explain I was underage.
  • Waiter offered me a free margarita at a Mexican restaurant
  • When someone asks you for your phone number or talks to you and you go to say "Hello?! I'm 15!" But then you realize your not 15 anymore....
  • Guys just keep asking us for our numbers!!!!!!

AWESOME:

  • Driver's Permits/Licenses
  • More Freedom
  • You can actually start planning your life, applying for college, etc
  • You can start checking stuff off your bucket list. (Except the skydiving...)
  • First Cell Phone! (Except I lost it....whoops)
  • You can buy your own books *Mwuhahahaha*
  • You can also buy your own coffees....
  • The fact that Lia pretended she was deaf to escape talking to some random dude at the Post Office. (I can't believe I actually did that...)
  • Makeup
  • Shopping with your mother and actually getting to pick your own clothes
  • People start valuing your opinion as an adult (kind of scary but still awesome)

Well that's all for this.
We had a lot of fun. Enjoy!
Love,
-Lia, Kat

Hello February!

Today is the first day of February! We are now one month further into the year 2017.
What do we have to show for it? Have we kept up our goals? Are we getting closer to achieving our dreams?

Or are you sitting on the computer all day reading blogs? (Don't feel too bad. That's basically what I've been doing, except I have tea. Plus I like this blog. )

This is the beginning of a new month. It's time to start working again! To start sprinting toward your dreams again,

But first you should finish this blog post.

Many of my protestant friends are very surprised that the Catholics read the Bible.
Honesty? Come on. We were the ones who combined the Old and New Testament, kept and protected the Bible all these years...(Sorry. Ranting)

Since this is the Month of Marriage, (that was St. Valentine's real story you know. Saving marriages.) I suggest reading the book of Tobit.  There is a paper somewhere explaining how the book of Tobit has every Church teaching on Marriage and Family in it. (I'll try and find it for you, but I wouldn't count on it)

This would be a good book to read this month. It doesn't take long to read this book of the Bible, I read it earlier in about an hour. So just take out the Bible and read a few minutes a day.

Besides containing a lot on Marriage, it's also very funny.

Like the fact that the girl young Tobit marries has had her last 7 husbands killed by a devil on her wedding night? (Well, that's not very funny...)
So after Tobit married her, her dad sent the servants out to dig a pit, "Just in case"
Of course after he lived, they had to fill it back in....

She Stole My Line

I was seriously just logging on here to talk about Fall.
Which is officially here now, since the 22nd.

I LOVE Fall!
The crisp air, the fashion boots, the tea, the decor of  nature and our homes, hoodies, caramel apples,
not to mention the harvest! The drive from your home is so different after they've combined the corn and bean fields.

And my all time favorite: All the bugs die!

oh, and did I mention tea?
