Confessions

Alright guys.

I have something I'd like to share with you guys that I've been dealing with my entire life.

I...

am a Disney nerd.

Side effects include:
Randomly bursting into song
Expecting animals to come help you with cleaning
Being happy all the time

If you know anyone with this condition, tell them there is nothing that can be done for them. This will affect you all your life.

Ok guys, this is literally the most random thing ever but I had to write this out. I hope you get a laugh out of this.
And since the best part of Disney is the music. Here.

(Peter Pan is my favorite!!!)

Quick Note

Basically, the only things on this list I've done are #5 and #6.
Because that is what I do normally

What NOT To Do On Valentine's Day

Happy feast of St. Valentine everyone!

I do not have a boyfriend or a Valentine this year. I haven't for the last couple of years and I am totally ok with that. I'm only 17, I'll wait for the right one.

Even though I don't have a Valentine, I still have a few words of wisdom I can impart on you lovely people :)

Here's what not to do on Valentine's Day:

1. Complain about your singledom and cry in your room with chocolate.
(BTW singledom is totally a word, I just made it up :))

This will get you nowhere. Be happy. Even though you don't have a boyfriend to spend today with, Valentine's can still be fun. Go out with your friends. Walk around town, go out to dinner, have a sleepover, make fun of all the lovey-dovey couples you see.(Nicely. and not necessarily in that order)(And I suggest quietly too-Kat)

2. Post on social media that you are #singleandproud.
Just don't do it. You might actually be single and proud of it and that's ok. But if you post about it, it makes you look desperate. That you want the whole world to know you're single.

-Lia

(Ha ha. We are both posting on this one! The pink is Lia, the blue is mine -Kat)

3. Walk up to a random cute couple your age, slap the guy in the face and scream "You said you would always remember me!" and then stomp off. Please. Just don't.

4. Don't go out to people -ly places. Avoid all those places that are always filled with couples (unless it the coffee shop. coffee, coffee, coffee,)

5. But don't stay in either. (Unless you LIKE staying in.) If you like going out and about, go some place that isn't a "couple" thing. (Please tell me Barnes and Nobel isn't a "couple place.")

6. Don't sit on your computer all day

A Suggestion: I suggest you get all you friends together (the awesome single ones) and have a movie marathon. It could be chick flicks, Disney, period drama (P&P, any other Jane Austen, North and South, etc) but it doesn't have to be. You could watch war movies, cheesy movies, the classics, spy movies (invite me please.)  Pizza, on the other hand, is a MUST. Chocolate is good too. And popcorn. Since St. Valentine's isn't in Lent this year (YAY) that means you have no excuse not to splurge on chocolates. (unless your broke, in which case I suggest inviting friends who have jobs.)

-Kat

What do you suggest people do or don't do on St. Valentine's day?

Prayers For Future Husband

Hello!

It's my turn to post on future husband prayers so here we go!

I don't know what he struggles with, you do.
I don't know his dreams, but you do.
I don't know his past, but you do.
Help me know how to pray for him today,
before I even know him.

If I marry:
He must be tall that when he is on
his knees he reaches all the way to
heaven.
His shoulders must be broad enough
to bear the burden of a family.
His lips must be strong enough to
smile, firm enough to say no, and tender
enough to kiss.
Love must be so deep that it takes its
stand in Christ and so wide that it
takes in the whole lost world.
He must be active enough to save souls.
He must be big enough to be gentle
and great enough to be thoughtful.
His arms must be strong enough
to carry a little child.

Dear Lord Jesus, it's so amazing that You can see my future husband now. You know him. You love him. Lord, since you know the man You have designed for me, I pray that any other relationship will be unappealing to him. I pray that if he is giving a part of his heart, him emotions, or his body, You will show him Your better way.
Most of all I pray he'll be a God lover. Not only do I ask that You distract and keep him from other, harmful relationships but also that You draw him closer to You. May his heart be so full of You that he doesn't need anything except You...until the time You appoint to bring me into his life.
And for every day of his life, hold him in the palm of Your hand. Amen.

Lord, I pray for a man what will be a part of my life. A man that really loves You more than everything. A man that lives not for himself, but for You. He must know for whom and what he lives, so his life isn't useless. Someone who has a wise heart, not only a smart brain. A man that not only adores me, but can warn me when I'm wrong. A man that can be my best friend. A man that makes me feel like a woman when I'm beside him. I don't ask for a perfect man, but I ask for an imperfect man. A man that needs my support, my love, my prayers for his life. Give me Your hands so I'll always be able to pray for him. Give me Your eyes so I can see good things in him. Give me Your mouth that is filled with wisdom so that I can support him.

I personally love all of these that I found. Pray often for him, you might not know him now but he will come.

Love,
-Lia

Growing Up: Awkward and Awesome

I Don't Want To Grow Up!

"I want to stay single and ride through the glen firing arrows into the sunset"  (Disney)

Or as Lia would say "Take me to Neverland!" (also Disney. Duh)
(She has a HUGE crush on the Peter Pan from OUAT, BTW)

Why do we have to grow up?

So here are some Awkward and Awesome parts of growing up

AWKWARD:

  • People talk to you in the grocery store and you automatically look over your shoulder for Mum. Also most of the time it's dudes.
  • I'm sorry, I know a lot of girls are dreaming of the day when random guys will ask them for their number or just strike up a conversation....but it is really annoying.
  • When you and your brother go out to Chipotle, people think you are a couple.
  • When you go out to eat and people think you are ordering a alcoholic drink and you just have to look at them and say, "I'll have tea."  (Ok. This only happened once)
  • You take a quiz on "How Responsible Are You" and it's like "95%! We guess your age to be about 35. (What?! So much for the rebellious teenager thing)
  • But your still not old enough to go skydiving. *SIGH*
  • People ask what your majoring in. I'm in High School!
  • Guy in his late twenties asked for my number at Subway. Had to explain I was underage.
  • Waiter offered me a free margarita at a Mexican restaurant
  • When someone asks you for your phone number or talks to you and you go to say "Hello?! I'm 15!" But then you realize your not 15 anymore....
  • Guys just keep asking us for our numbers!!!!!!

AWESOME:

  • Driver's Permits/Licenses
  • More Freedom
  • You can actually start planning your life, applying for college, etc
  • You can start checking stuff off your bucket list. (Except the skydiving...)
  • First Cell Phone! (Except I lost it....whoops)
  • You can buy your own books *Mwuhahahaha*
  • You can also buy your own coffees....
  • The fact that Lia pretended she was deaf to escape talking to some random dude at the Post Office. (I can't believe I actually did that...)
  • Makeup
  • Shopping with your mother and actually getting to pick your own clothes
  • People start valuing your opinion as an adult (kind of scary but still awesome)

Well that's all for this.
We had a lot of fun. Enjoy!
Love,
-Lia, Kat

Music of the Week #7

Hello all!

I can't believe I've already done 7 weeks of this!

This week.... one of my favorite musicals

Phantom of the Opera!!

Backstory time!
I was first introduced to this musical when I was four years old. The movie had just come out and my sisters bought it. I swear they watched more than once a day :) So little ol' me also listened to it a lot.
Soon enough, I was walking around the house singing 'Angel of Music'. I have loved this musical ever since. My sister actually got the book for me for Christmas. I thought I would  like the book and I do somewhat........ But that's a whole other post so I will continue with the music.

(Side note, I will be posting the music from the 25th anniversary edition rather that the movie)

Music of the Night
Okay, I know I previously had this one in Music of the Week #3 but I have to post it again.
I love this song so much. I could listen to this on repeat for days and still never get tired of it.

All I Ask of You
Next to Music of the Night, this is my favorite song from the musical. I like the 25th anniversary version better that the movie version of this song. This duet is the best thing ever!!

Phantom of the Opera
Title song, I can't not post this. Enjoy!

Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again
This song is so sad. Christine is singing about how much she misses her father and think its so beautiful.

Point of No Return
A lot of people think this song is really creepy. Me.... I love this song. I don't know why, I just do.

I hope if you have never seen this musical after this you will go and watch it immediately. :)

Love,
-Lia

Praying for Your Future Husband

These prayers are both for praying for guidance in finding your future husband, praying that God gives him strength now in any trials he may be going through, and for patience until he arrives.

The first prayer is a Novena to Saint Joseph, the spouse of Mary. This novena (say it 9 days in a row) isn't especially for future spouses, but you can customize the request

"Oh Saint Joseph whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the Throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires.

Oh Saint Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord, so having engaged here below your heavenly power I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of fathers.

Oh Saint Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach while he reposes near your heart. Press him in my name and kiss his fine head and ask him to return the favor when I draw my dying breath.

Oh Saint Joseph, Patron of departing souls, pray for us.

Amen."

And this one:

O Jesus, lover of the young, the dearest Friend I have, in all confidence I open my heart to You to beg Your light and assistance in the important task of planning my future. Give me the light of Your grace, that I may decide wisely concerning the person who is to be my partner through life. Dearest Jesus, send me such a one whom in Your divine wisdom You judge best suited to be united with me in marriage. May her/his  character reflect some of the traits of Your own Sacred Heart. May s/he be upright, loyal, pure, sincere and noble, so that with united efforts and with pure and unselfish love we both may strive to perfect ourselves in soul and body, as well as the children it may please You to entrust to our care. Bless our friendship before marriage, that sin may have no part in it. May our mutual love bind us so closely, that our future home may ever be most like Your own at Nazareth.

O Mary Immaculate, sweet Mother of the young, to your special care I entrust the decision I am to make as to my future wife/husband. You are my guiding Star! Direct me to the person with whom I can best cooperate in doing God's Holy Will, with whom I can live in peace, love and harmony in this life, and attain to eternal joys in the next.
Amen."

And this one to Saint Anne

"Dear Saint Anne, find me a husband as fast as you can"
s
....

I'm kidding.

The Saint Ann novena is too long for me to write out  (it changes every day of the novena) so I'll enclose the link to it here: Saint Anna Novena

Remember, keep praying. If it is meant to happen, it will.

Courtship Vs Dating

This always REALLY confused me.

What? I'm not going to COURT someone! Weird. I'm going to date people! I'm not going to sit on a couch. (In front of my family. Awkward)

I want to go to dinner. To movies.

What do you mean dating ruins marriage? My brother dated and he married the girl and they are happy!

Here is what I didn't understand.

Courtship doesn't mean sitting on the couch and playing the organ and serving him pie you made (though you could do that if you really wanted to)

The difference between dating and courtship is the reason  you do it.

If you are dating in the hopes of finding your future spouse, you are courting. If you are dating because everyone is doing it, because your bored, etc you're doing it for the wrong reason.

So now you know!

Also, if somebody asks you on a date, or asks you to date them you do not have to scream: "Dating Bad! Courtship Good!"

Dating, for the sake of marriage, is still called dating.

Have a blessed Saint Valentine's Day!

Hello February!

Today is the first day of February! We are now one month further into the year 2017.
What do we have to show for it? Have we kept up our goals? Are we getting closer to achieving our dreams?

Or are you sitting on the computer all day reading blogs? (Don't feel too bad. That's basically what I've been doing, except I have tea. Plus I like this blog. )

This is the beginning of a new month. It's time to start working again! To start sprinting toward your dreams again,

But first you should finish this blog post.

Many of my protestant friends are very surprised that the Catholics read the Bible.
Honesty? Come on. We were the ones who combined the Old and New Testament, kept and protected the Bible all these years...(Sorry. Ranting)

Since this is the Month of Marriage, (that was St. Valentine's real story you know. Saving marriages.) I suggest reading the book of Tobit.  There is a paper somewhere explaining how the book of Tobit has every Church teaching on Marriage and Family in it. (I'll try and find it for you, but I wouldn't count on it)

This would be a good book to read this month. It doesn't take long to read this book of the Bible, I read it earlier in about an hour. So just take out the Bible and read a few minutes a day.

Besides containing a lot on Marriage, it's also very funny.

Like the fact that the girl young Tobit marries has had her last 7 husbands killed by a devil on her wedding night? (Well, that's not very funny...)
So after Tobit married her, her dad sent the servants out to dig a pit, "Just in case"
Of course after he lived, they had to fill it back in....
