Quotes #2

Hey Guys!

Another round of quotes curtesy of Pinterest.

If you want 2017 to be your year:

Don't sit on the couch and wait for it.
Go out. Make a change. Smile more.
Be excited. Do new things. Throw away
what you've been cluttering. Unfollow
negative people on social media. Go to
bed early. Wake up early. Be fierce.
Don't gossip. Show more gratitude.
Do things that challenge you.
Be brave.

You are not the number
of A's you get in school,
nor the numbers of 0's in
your bank account after you
finished school.

Instead,
You are the number of ticks
you checked off your bucket list
and the number of smiled
you impacted on others
while doing the things you like.

Always be yourself. Don't ever let
anybody ever tell you you're not good
enough because God made you who you are
for a reason.

Who are you,
really?

you are not a name
or a height, or a weight
or a gender
you are not an age
and you are not where you
are from

you are your favorite books
and the songs stuck in your head
you are your thoughts
and what you eat for breakfast
on Saturday mornings

you are a thousand things
but everyone chooses
to see the million things
you are not

you are not
where you are from
you are
where you're going
and i'd like
to go there
too.

I ADORE you, you crazy,
gorgeous, wonderful (but
also sometimes quite weird
but still very lovely) person

The earth has music for those who listen.

Being a hero doesn't mean you're invincible
it just means you're brave enough to stand up
and do what's needed.

She told the seashell
her story, whispering
every secret her memories
held. Then she laid
the shell at the ocean's edge
and watched the tide pick
it up and carry it out to sea...

Don't be sad, because
sad backwards is das,
and das not good.

I am not an early bird
or a night owl.
I am some form of
permanently exhausted
pigeon.

When you're young
thunderstorms seem scary
like the sky is
angry at you.
But now that I'm older,
something about its roar
soothes me;
it's comforting
to know that even nature
needs to scream sometimes.

There are gonna be a lot of situations
that make you want to switch up your
character. Remain you.

Well there you have it. The second installment of quotes.
Stay tuned!

-Lia

Music of the Week #3

Hey guys!

I know I missed a week with this but it was the week before Christmas so I was a little stressed.

This week has a theme....

Here we go

Musicals!!!!!!!!!

I love musicals so much. Anyone who knows me knows that if they say a word that comes from a musical I will automatically start singing the song.

Onward!!!

Les Miserables- One Day More.
Okay so it was really hard to pick a favorite song from this musical cause I have so many favorites.
But this one holds a special place in my heart. It starts out with each individual parts and then close to the end everyone sings their parts together and I just sdkjlaksdhfjs

Phantom of the Opera- Music of the Night
I first listened to the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack when I was four years old. The 2004 movie had just come out and my sisters had become obsessed with it. So I got to listen to it too. Soon enough four year old me was going around the house singing 'Angel of Music'. I didn't fully like this song until I was 12 then it became my favorite song.

Into the Woods- No One is Alone
I didn't see Into the Woods until a year ago so I didn't get into this one at first. I heard this song and I started to cry. This song is so beautiful and has a message that is strong.

Wicked- Popular
This song cracks me up. It has a good beat and is just really funny. My sister and I sing this one all the time. (me as Glinda) I exaggerate my facial expressions a lot.

Hamilton- It's Quiet Uptown
Everyone who is a fan of Hamilton is probably freaking out right now reading this. I wasn't into Hamilton at first, I thought it was weird that people were freaking out about a musical about Alexander Hamilton. Boy, was I wrong. I was so wrong. I finally decided to listen to the soundtrack last week to see what all the fuss was about. I finished that album and just sat there in shock(and tears too, the last song gets me) This musical was written so well and I was completely flabbergasted.
It's Quiet Uptown is my favorite song from this musical. I cried so hard listening to this for the first time.

So that was fun! I will probably have another musical themed one cause I definitely did not cover all of my favorite musicals.
Comment down below what your favorite musicals are. (and tell me what your experiences with Hamilton are, I'd love to know if anyone else likes it on here)

Christmas 2016

Merry Christmas guys!

I know I haven't blogged in a week......and a half :(

I was baking cookies and cleaning my house. It was just really chaotic and I didn't even have time to think about blogging. So I'm sorry but here I am now.

My family knows me too well so I got a lot of books for Christmas. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
(book nerd alert)

The week of practices for the Epiphany play start next week so I'm excited about that.
I managed to memorize all my lines and my lyrics for my solos.

I'm really self-conscious about who hears me sing so I won't sing in front of people until I've known them for awhile so this is a big step for me.

I'm honestly not as nervous as I thought I would be but I guess that's just me growing up.

I will try to blog every night next week so I can tell you guys how practice is going.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a good Christmas.

Love,
-Lia

Music of the Week #2

Hey guys!!

Here's the second edition of my five songs for you guys.

Owl City- Fireflies
This song is very nostalgic. I feel happy listening to this song. I don't really know how to describe that so, here listen for yourself

Josh Groban- You Are Loved
This song has helped me a lot when I am feeling down and stressed out. The overall message is you are loved even if you feel everyone you know hates you, someone out there cares for you and that matters.

Peter Hollens- The Rains of Castamore
This song is amazing!!!!!!!!!!! I love his voice and the song is beautiful and I just can't.
Here listen...

Taylor Swift- Sweeter than Fiction
I'm probably going to need this song a lot for the next few weeks. This song is about being proud of someone for doing what they love. I love the message of this song and I hope it helps you too.

Christina Perri- A Thousand Years.
No words..... just no words. Listen to the song instead.

That's all for this week guys!!!
So sorry I was late. This week has been a little chaotic to say the least.

The Epiphany Play

Hi guys!!!!! *waves*

Every year my church does an Epiphany play. This is a retelling of the conceiving of Jesus all the
way to the visit of the wise men.

This year I have been cast as Mary. (cue screaming)

This is a great honor and I can't tell you how excited and nervous and I am freaking out all over again.

It will be the first time I will sing in public by myself so yeah.........

I'm planning on blogging about the whole thing and will keep you guys posted on practices, and how the play goes

The play isn't til January but we need to practice now so all the little kids know their parts.

I am very excited for it and it will be a fun month and a half.

Music of the Week #1

Hey y'all!!!  :)

I am a big music person. Most of the day, I have earbuds in. Music is my life and I don't know what I would do without it. Music has gotten me through some tough times so I will always be grateful there is music in the world.

Ok, Lia get to the point now!

Anyway I am posting five songs per week that I like. This will be any genre, though rap and screamo and other weird music I will not be posting.

-
Here goes!

Raelynn- Diamonds.
This song is Just. So. Amazing!!! (how many of these will begin with that phrase???)
Raelynn has an awesome voice and this song is so beautiful and I could go on but I don't want to spoil anything.

Diamond Rio- One More Day
This song actually made me cry the first time I heard it.
It's so beautiful. I just can't even find words perfect enough to describe it.

Hunter Hayes- Wanted
Those who know me know that I am obsessed with Hunter Hayes. This was the first song I ever heard from him and I have loved him ever since. This song has helped me a lot during some tough times and I will be forever grateful to Hunter for writing this.

Taylor Swift- All Too Well
Taylor Swift has also gotten me through tough times. She writes her songs like she actually knows what her fans are going through. I can relate to most of her songs.

Parachute- Forever and Always
This song made me cry too. It..... Actually just listen to it and you'll know what I mean.

Those are my five songs! I hope you enjoy these :)

Love,
-Lia

Quotes #1

I am finding a lot of quotes on Pinterest so I will post some of them periodically. I am a really big quote fan so expect a lot of these posts.

Also I am not sure who the author is on some of these so I you want to know just ask and I'll try to find out for you. :)

Fog on her glasses
From the still steaming tea
A book in her hand
As she casually reads.
A catch in her breath
As the climax grows near
She's deaf to the world:
The book's all she can hear
She's completely lost now,
Or perhaps she is found
In this strange paper world
That's far from the ground.

I love you just the way you are
but you don't see you like I do.
You shouldn't try so hard to be perfect.
Trust me, perfect should try to be you.

I will not be another flower,
picked for my beauty
and left to die.
I will be wild,
difficult to find,
and impossible to forget.

Roses aren't always red
& violets aren't exactly blue,
the society that we live in
never seems to speak the truth.

Smiles aren't always happy
& frowns aren't always upset,
people judge too quickly
& our feelings are what they
                 forget.

One day, you're 17 and you're planning for
someday. And then quietly, without you ever
really noticing, someday is today. And then
someday is yesterday. And this is your life.

You are braver than you believe,
stronger than you seem, smarter
than you think, and loved more
than you know.

Make your parents proud, your enemies jealous, and yourself happy.

I want to be the reason you look down at your phone and smile.....

Then walk into a pole.

Pray, Wait, Trust.

It's hard to act cool in front of you
because whenever I see you,
my brain is like,
"This person is good looking,
say something stupid."
and I'm like, "Awesome idea brain."
And then I say something stupid
because I'm an idiot.

I plan on bugging you
every single day
for the forseeable future

Love your parents
We are so busy
growing up,
we often forget
they are also
growing old.

Ok so yeah, I should probably stop now.
Stay tuned for more of these in the future!

-Lia

St. Cecilia Patroness of Musicians

Hey y'all!!

Today is the feast day of St. Cecilia. She is one of my patron saints so I thought I would make a post about her.

St. Cecilia lived in the early days of the church. On her wedding night, she was praying to her guardian angel and her husband, Valerian, came into the room and saw her angel.

He wanted to know who the angel was so Cecilia told him to go see the pope. Valerian and his brother were received into the Church and were martyred shortly after.

Cecilia was ordered to give up her faith and she refused.

She was imprisoned in her bathhouse which was heated to a very high temperature.

Cecilia was left in the bathhouse for three days. She remained unhurt.

The judge ordered her to be beheaded. The executioner struck her three times and her head was partially severed from her body. She lay on ground for three days and expired on the third day.

St. Cecilia is the patron saint of musicians. Its great that I'm named after her cause I sing a lot. I mean a LOT.

My family has to continually tell me to be quiet cause I keep singing.

If you have any questions, feel free to comment and I'll answer as soon as possible!

Just Wanted To Share This With You Guys.

I found this poem on Pinterest and I like it so much I thought I would share it.

Don't cry because he told you,
That his love has slipped away,
Because I once knew a boy,
Who watched the sun rise every day,
One morning I sat with him,
Wrapped entirely in my awe,
But he said he'd viewed so many,
Six a.m. was all he saw,
And you're a brilliant sunrise,
With your darkness-breaking light,
But I know he's forgotten,
Life without you is just night,
He cannot see your beauty,
Since he's taken it for granted,
But that doesn't mean it's failed,
To leave the rest of us enchanted,
You deserve the love of someone,
Who'll watch you rise over again,
And may they never come to see you,
As another six a.m.

All Saints Day

Hey guys!

Sorry I haven't posted anything for a while. I've been a bit busy(aka homework, joy)

Anyway I had some free time on my hands and decided to make a post.

November 1st was All Saints Day. It is a holy day of obligation. A holy day of obligation means you are required to go to church that day. It's like a Sunday during the week.

Our church had its All Saints Day party on November 6th. All of the kids in the parish dress up as a saint and our priest and the adults have to guess who they are.

Basically, all the kids in our parish look through saint books and try to find the most obscure saints no one has ever heard of. It worked too. Our priest had the hardest time trying to guess. It was really funny!

Me, I didn't dress up. I stopped dressing up when I turned 13. It just wasn't as fun as it used to be.

After the guessing is finished, the teenagers in our parish set up games for all the kids to come back and play. I was in charge of the St. Peter's Fishing Hole. Yes, it was as fun as it sounds. It was a blue curtain hung between two doors. The kids tossed rods with clothespins on the end of them over the curtain and the people behind the curtain clipped candy on them.

Kat and I were behind the curtain for most of the time. It was really fun. The kids would come up and say, "Is there anyone behind the curtain?" We sat there and giggled into our sleeves, trying not to laugh too hard. The kids eventually figured out we were back there and kept requesting certain candies that we didn't even have!

All of us were exhausted once the party was over. Giving candy to little kids is just soo tiring!

We had fun though.

Til next time!

Pray For Our Troops

Today is Veteran's day. The day dedicated to all American Troops, those who have served, those who are serving and those who have fallen in service of their country.

One of my favorite quotes about the fallen is

Remember: Someone sacrificed their tomorrow so you could have your today.

So, Please please pray for our troops, especially those overseas and their families.

(Saint Adrian is the patron saint of soldiers, by the way)

North and South

Last week my mom and I watched BBC's North and South for the first time. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made in my life. It was so good! I decided to write a review to express how much I loved it.

WARNING: if you have never seen North and South leave now to avoid spoilers!

But if you decide to continue reading anyway, enjoy the spoilers I know you will read.

North and South is an amazing period drama set in 1800's England (who doesn't love a good British
drama??) I fell in love with the costumes, the scenery, and the actors who brought the characters to life.

I have never read the book so this is a review on just the mini-series. You can be sure I will buy the book as soon as possible.

Daniela Denby-Ashe did a wonderful job of bringing Margaret Hale to life. Just through her facial expressions you can tell exactly what Margaret is feeling. To me that is the mark of a truly great actress.

Richard Armitage, well where to I begin with him? He did a superb job of playing John Thornton.(Right now I am watching BBC Robin Hood and he is in that. He plays Guy of Gisbourne. I am used to hating him so this was a big change. I just finished the first season. No spoilers please)

Anyway John Thornton reminded me a lot of Mr. Darcy. Same characteristics, same rich background, same grumpy expression!

I love all of the minor characters too. They bring so much life and spirit to the plot. Mr. and Mrs. Hale were just wonderful characters. I really loved Bessy and Mr. Higgins. Bessy was amazing and I was very upset when she died. Frederick Hale was a good brother and a good son and I was excited when he came into the story.

Mr. Bell is like the nice old man who lives next door who always has candy for you. He made me laugh so much every scene he was in.

Mrs. Thornton, on the other hand, was a complicated character. She is very protective of her son and I respect that, but it seems she was just too involved with his life. I honestly wasn't sure what to think of her for most of the series but I think she's a great addition to the story.

I loved the story and everything that happened in it. I will definitely will reviewing more period dramas in the future. Stay tuned!

Any other dramas anyone can think of please tell me in the comments.

And thank you for sitting and reading this really, really long post.

Promises of the Rosary

OUR LADY of the ROSARY

I've been sick of late. I apologize, I meant to blog more this month. Since October is the month of the rosary I've decided to post on Our Lady's promises of the Rosary. (There are 15 promises)

Oh, and here is a picture of Our Lady of the Rosary. The feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is October 7.

1. To all those who shall recite my Rosary devoutly, I promise my special protection and very great graces.

2.  Those who shall persevere in the recitation of my Rosary shall receive some signal grace.

3.  The Rosary shall be a very powerful armor against hell; it will destroy vice, deliver from sin, and dispel heresy.

4.   The Rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies; it will substitute in hearts love of God for love of the world, and will lift them to the desire of heavenly and eternal things. How many souls shall sanctify themselves by this means!

5.   Those who trust themselves to me through the Rosary, shall not perish.

6.   Those who shall recite my Rosary devoutly, meditating on its mysteries, shall not be overwhelmed by misfortune. The sinner shall be converted; the just shall grow in grace and become worthy of eternal life.

7.   Those truly devoted to my Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.

8.  Those who recite my Rosary shall find during their life and at their death the light of God, the fullness of His graces, and shall share in the merits of the blessed.

9.    I shall deliver very promptly from purgatory the souls devoted to my Rosary.

10.  The true children of my Rosary shall enjoy great glory in heaven.

11.   What you ask through my Rosary, you shall obtain.

12.   Those who propagate my Rosary shall be aided by me in all their necessities.

13.    I have obtained from my Son that all the members of the Rosary Confraternity shall have for their brethren the saints of heaven during their life and at the hour of death.

14.   Those who recite my Rosary faithfully are all my beloved children, the brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ.

15.    Devotion to my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

Pray the Rosary daily! That's our goal for this month!

-Kat

A Little Update.

I'm sorry we have not been posting lately. :( Kat's been under the weather and I have been busy with homework.

I promise we will post something soon. I have a post in the works right now. It will be out soon.

Thanks for your patience!

My Crazy, Dysfunctional, Wonderful Family

"Get out of my room!!"

"Don't touch that!"

"Who made this mess??"

These are phrases that are very common in my house.

As a teenage girl with two younger brothers, I wonder how I manage to survive day
after day.

I'm still trying to figure that out but I've come up with some tips for surviving younger
siblings.

Playing your music as loud as you can get it without damaging your ears works very well.

Spend as much time alone in your room without becoming a total recluse works too.

Thankfully my mom is very understanding so she understands that sometimes I need to be
alone.

My siblings may annoy me but I wouldn't trade them for the world. (just don't let them know that)

She Stole My Line

I was seriously just logging on here to talk about Fall.
Which is officially here now, since the 22nd.

I LOVE Fall!
The crisp air, the fashion boots, the tea, the decor of  nature and our homes, hoodies, caramel apples,
not to mention the harvest! The drive from your home is so different after they've combined the corn and bean fields.

And my all time favorite: All the bugs die!

oh, and did I mention tea?

-Kat

Fall!

Ahhhhhh! Fall is here!

Fall is one of my favorite seasons and it's here.

All of our windows are open and I'm freezing to death but I have no problem with that.

To get a great fall experience make sure to have your fall starter pack:

Warm, cozy sweaters
Hot drink of your choice
Fall decorations
fall scented candles

The candles are to make sure you get the full fall experience inside and out.

Have a great fall!

Quick September Devotion

So we were originally not going to post a devotion for September but my Mom suggested a quick,

short prayer to add.

September is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows.

So here is the Sorrowful Hail Mary:

"Hail Mary, full of sorrows, the Crucified is with thee; thou are pitiable amongst women, and
pitiable is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of the Crucified, implore for us,
the crucifiers of thy Son, tears of contrition, now and at the hour of our death. Amen."

This prayer is short and easy to say anywhere and at anytime.

Patron Saints

Everyday on the calendar has a saint. It is that saint's feast day!
A lot of people complain ( especially during lent) as to how much Catholics HAVE to fast.
That's just because they are ONLY doing what they have to.
Do they celebrate the feast days of their favorite saints? Do they celebrate their baptismal anniversaries (Commonly referred to as "Name days") with parties as big as their birthdays?

Everyone has patron saints. The saints your named after perhaps? Or maybe the patron saint of your occupation or hobby? Or just a saint you like.

Here are some common patron saints:
  •  Saint Adrian the Patron of soldiers
  • Saint Anne the Patron of Grandmothers, Mothers, Women in labor
  •  Saint Isidore the Patron of Ranchers and farmers
  •  Saint Joseph, patron of workers, fathers,
  • Saint Cecilia, patron of musicians and music
  • Saint Christopher, patron of travelers  (also, Archangel Raphael)
  • Saint Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother, patron saint of guns, handguns, and gun owners
  •
There are a billion more! But I've drawn a blank...
Anyway, here are some websites to look for other saints. Please do not trust places like Wikipedia for your catholic information. Treat it like you would any other research. It might be a good starting place, but just because it's on the internet, doesn't mean it's true

http://www.catholic-saints.info/patron-saints/list-of-patron-saints-patronage.htm

http://www.catholicsupply.com/CHRISTMAS/saint_meaning.html

http://catholicsaints.info/

I don't think any of these websites have the saint's feast days...
You'll have to find them yourself!

Keep Celebrating!

-Kat

October: Month of the Rosary

Monthly devotion :   Every Month is going to have "a theme"
for example June: The Sacred Heart.

Since there are only 7 days left of September, there will be no theme this month, however,
Next Month, October, will be the month of the Rosary.
