Awkward and Awesome // Workouts, Exercise, But Mostly Running

________________AWKWARD________________

Long skirts get tangled up around your legs and trip you,
short skirts tend to fly up when you run,
denim skirts refuse to behave...

The price of running shoes O.O

When you're sick and can't run and its driving you crazy

Or even worse, when you twist your ankle or something so that you CAN'T run or lift or whatever, but you're still healthy and just have to sit around

People who walk to abreast on the trails and won't. get. over. to. let. you. through.

When you have your feet stuck under something so you can do situps and your foot slips out and you knee yourself in the face

When you're doing pushups and you underestimate how close the ground is and instead of having your chin up, you're looking down so you knock your forehead into the floor
...
And then the hollow clunk makes you laugh, so you drop onto the ground and your siblings find you lying face first on the floor laughing into the floorboards.

When someone you don't like can do more pushups then you and you sit there with mixed feelings of rage, annoyance, disgust, and slight respect
(Note, it has to be a fairly impressive amount of pushups to get the respect part since I can do about jack diddly in the push up area)

People who don't clean of the machine before they leave...Yay. Sweat. My favorite. :(

People who change the channel on the TV.
"Hey buddy. Trying to watch Cutthroat kitchen here, not CNN!"
But do we say that? No. Because that would be rude.

When you're having a lovely run and then step in a dip and twist your ankle. Not enough for it to be hurt, just enough to throw you off your run and make it achy

When you try and shower after a work out and your family decided to run laundry and the dishwasher and there. is. no. hot. water.....in December.

New socks

NEW RUNNING SHOES

The burn in your legs after a long run that makes you feel alive

Also the adrenaline rush after you've finished that makes you want to climb the side of the house and dance on the roof (PRO TIP: DON'T)

The pleasant ache of muscles after a good day

Also the feeling when you stretch and you start to feel your tendons burn

When someone says they can do more situps then you so you end up having a contest in the hallway... and some poor boys walk up to see all these girls crowded around counting...
"49..50...51..."
(And for  your information I won...by a lot.)

Sweat.
I know, I know.
Its stinky, wet, and just generally disgusting.
But it means your out there, living life.
And that makes all the difference

5 Things You Need For An Awesome Summer:

Summer is starting!

Ok, actually it's not. Summer doesn't officially start until June 21st.
But whatever. Work with me here.

  1. A crazy plan that may or may not happen.
Hike the Appalachian trail? Go on an epic road trip? Make some crazy plans and try to make it work. But don't be too disappointed if it fails.
  2. A no less fun plan that you can  make happen. How about some fun things that will happen? Make a bucket list. Go watch a new  movie, go ice skating, (indoor naturally,) rent some kayaks and head up the river. Bonus points if you find a rope swing over the water.
  3. A new skill to learn.
Want to write with your non dominate hand? Go for it. Cartwheels? Run a 5K? Do it.
  4. A reading list
Or if you want to try something else, a list a movies to watch. Want to watch every old John Wayne cowboy movie? Re watch all your favorite war movies with your dad? Musical Movie Marathon? Watch EVERY DISNEY MOVIE EVER? Then do it.

  5. Try something that scares you.
You want to cut your hair, but are worried about the sudden change, or what other people will think? Want to take Martial Arts, but are scared of starting lessons? Close your eyes, take a deep breath and go! Live your dreams! Don't hold yourself back. (Oh, You should open your eyes after the deep breath)

Have a great summer.

Cheers mates,

Lent

Ok.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
I meant to post this before Lent actually began....but school, life, etc. *Sigh*

Lent is a time to grow closer to God. It's the time to strengthen your relationship with Him, and do a little spring cleaning in your soul.

So....why do we fast?

Well, imagine there is a smoker and his wife is about to have a baby. He knows the smoke is bad for his kid, so he quits. Because the baby is more important then his cigarettes.

Now while the things we are offering up aren't bad in and of themselves (Soft drinks, candy, whatever) we are showing God that he is more important then earthly things.

Secondly, to strengthen our will power. Our will power is a gift from God. No other creatures have will power. Your will is like a muscle though. It needs constant use to make it stronger. And while Candy and soft drinks may have worked when you were younger, your will is stronger now. You need something heavier.

What you give up doesn't have to be totally pointless either.

You can give up the mornings that you sleep in. You can give up your comfort and start running. That may sound fun the first couple days, but after awhile you'll be dragging yourself to the gym. Why do I have to? Can't I quit? Nope. Because this is what your doing this lent.
Or maybe start that diet?
Or read a saint book when you would normally watch Agents of SHEILD or Dr. Who.

The key is to keep sacrificing. Say a morning offering each morning when you roll out of bed and offer your day to God.

Have a holy Lent!
